Having trouble accessing all my data on a possibly corrupted SSD

I have an OCZ Vertex 480GB SSD that failed/stopped working properly a week or two ago.
It suddenly just stopped being recognized by windows (booting from my HDD) and, while I could boot into the SSD, it would either black screen or try to repair windows and then black screen.

I tried repairing with my windows 7 OS disk but it couldn't even find the drive so that was a no-go.

Fortunately, booting from a linux mint installation disk, I could find and access my SSD. However, I've encountered a problem. While the properties of the drive say 220 GB are being used, I only can find 21 GB worth of data on the drive. Does this mean the drive is dying/corrupted or could this just be a linux issue in reading the material?
I can open up a good amount of folders but most are inexplicably blank. The other folders will give me an input/output error and not allow me to open them.

Any info would greatly be appreciated.

You could try to use recovery software. The only one that I know of that is free is Recuva which is made by Ccleaner. Solid state drives can fail but, I have had luck with recovering data from them. I do not think that it is a Linux case in reading the files. I would also like to add that I also use Linux mint and I have used it to recover data from drives that any Windows system could not even see. Good luck.
