Shutting Down A Computer From Power Surge Protector

So my sister was being retarded, and tried placing an Apple charger that takes up 2 slots on my power surge protector, then she "accidentally" turns off my PC. What exactly happens to your PC when it is not shutdown properly (like unplugging the power supply)? Are there any long term effects that will affect my PC negatively? Thanks in advance!

if you were to defragment, something were downloading, you were rendering a video, or windows was updating/moving files/encoding, you would probably corrupt some files and applications might not start or work properly.

Oh i just had Steam and League of Legends running while I was watching a video I should be ok no?
