I have a Plextor PX-G256M6e M.2 PCIe Internal Solid State Drive that I can't get to run faster than sata3 speeds

Those are screenshots from the manufacturers' tool kit I downloaded.

First, I should say that I had this drive for months, and it was never stable. It would cause crashes constantly. I almost memorized my windows product key code I reinstalled it so many times. Finally, I threw 240GB PNY SSD in, loaded Windows 8.1 onto it from the same Microsoft Disk, and it ran flawlessly. I had abandoned the idea of even returning to the M.2, but something about the thought of a near two hundred dollar SSD collecting dust didn't sit well, so I started digging, again, for knowledge on the subject. I found a bit of information pertaining to Uefi settings that seems to have provided some stability. It was in Storage configuration> sata Ide combined mode. I had to disable that, so said the motherboard manufacturer, and it has been stable for a few days. I also installed new firmware from the SSD manufacturer today, though it hasn't changed speed, I hope it helps in the long run as release notes mention improved performance on my brand of motherboard. While I am pleased to have the thing working, I would like to see the sort of speeds advertised by the motherboard and ssd manufacturers, or at least something more than sata 3. Any advise is greatly appreciated. I know just enough about computers to get myself into trouble, and out of only half of it.
