I currently run on a a single GTX760 playing on a 29inch monitor @2560x1080 resolution. Considering between the following 2 options.

1. SLI GTX760
2. Single GTX970

I have never done any SLI but ive read up abit and understand that its possible to SLI the 2 cards together and run them both on a single monitor.

I mainly play World of Warcraft unable to run on ultra settings while raiding as it will float around 45-50 fps during peak. Or when im in a slighty busy city.

in less crowded place it normalizes at around 110-130 fps however

I sometimes do fight recording too and it bothers me that it will drop a further 5 to 7 fps bcuz of that.

I personally cant stand it if the frame rate drops below 60.

I also dont want to overkill the rig for my usual usage either

Thanks all in advance for all the input!

I'm using the Asrock Z87 Killer mother board
http://www.asrock.com/mb/Intel/Fatal1ty%20Z87%20Killer/

and a 730W Powersupply

could you maybe provide a little more info as to why SLI Option is better?

I'm also new to SLI , never tried it before. Is there anything i need to take note of? like i need to buy some sort of cable or install some hardware/software in order for it to work ?

More heat generated huh ? will it be noticeable heat where its reccomended that i get extra cooling system / fans installed .

Or just generally extra heat but little harm to the system ?

This is also one of my concerns

Thank you all for the answers so far, both options are considerable investment to me.

it will be hotter but your gpu will handle it just fine.
