Crossfire Sapphire Vapor-X R9 280X, worth it?

Hi all,

I currently have a single Sapphire Vapor-X R9 280X running off a 750W PSU. I'm considering purchasing a second one of these cards for crossfire. Doing so however, will warrant buying a new case (I'm currently using a CM Storm, which is too small for both the cards I believe), and possibly a new power supply. I'm not sure if the 750W is enough, but I think it is the minimum I'll need. With AMD soon launching a new line of cards, do you think this is worth it?

Thanks.

2x r9 280x's alone would require 500watts of power and an additional 200 for your CPU/mobo or more.

It is worth to go 2x r9 280x's if you are wanting to run a 3 display set-up or 1440p. For a single 1080p it is not ideal.

for a multiple graphics card build, heat is a big issue because your secondary card will always give your primary card secondary heat.

Have a gander @ http://www.extreme.outervision.com/PSUEngine It'll give you an idea. 750w *should* be enough but unfortunately it depends on a lot of variables (amperage on 12v line being one). With so many PSUs available it's really hard to judge accurately without spending a large amount of time in research - but just going on the headline wattage is certainly not enough.

For a better answer you should post your exact rig specs including PSU make and model. Sorry can't be more help. BTW I'm planning on Xfire-ing 2 280xs too and have a choice of NorthQ 850w or BeQuiet 800w and I suspect the BeQuiet model is actually more appropriate.

Bear in mind (probably obvious) I'm in no way an expert on any of these things LOL! ;-)

I think your 280x requires 2x 8-pin power connectors? So make sure you have 4 of the things!
