So i'm looking at getting a new GPU to replace my XFX 7850. I've boiled it down to three based on my budget and PSU:

PSU : be quiet! PUREPOWER BQT L8-CM-530w

(all MSI)
gtx 960 2GB - min 400w
R9 380 4GB - min 500w
R9 280x 3GB - min 550w

I'd like more VRAM to keep it future proof, I just want to know if it wise running a 280x so close to the limit even though I think total system draw will be just fine as I only have one hdd, four fans and no overclocking will be done. Also running an i5 3570k at stock.

http:// (PSU details)

Thanks in advance

The 280x brings the best performance, but with your PSU being a 530 vs maybe 550 or 500 it makes me a buy sceptical, although be quiet is a good brand. The 960 is a little slower but is far more power efficient. The 380 is probably the least power efficient because it is a rebrand and it needs to be better than previous versions so they just overclocked it so it uses alot more power. So don't get the 380, if your after raw power/performance get the 280x, if you want efficiency get the 960. Hope that helped

The 390 needs a 750w supposedly (at least the 8GB version), I'm not sure about the 280x, but I know the 960 will work, if you can afford it the 970 also works on the wattage! And it performs on par with the 390

I would go for a GTX 970 but if you can't then a R9 280x and then secondly theirs no such thing as future proof everything becomes obsolete .

What's your reasoning for the 280x? Unfortunately, as much as i'd like a 970, it's about £100 more than i'd like to spend currently.
