Thick black tape that connects fan and the heatpipe together in a laptop

Hello.

I am trying to replace my laptop(Asus K450JN) fan. I disassembled my laptop and saw that there is a thick black rough tape that connects the fan and heatpipe altogether. I am sure that it was not a normal tape. The tape wasn't completely covering air flow gap between fan and heatpipe.

Any help?

its just a durable tape. any should do in replacement but the stronger the less likely it will every be a problem.

I was thinking of kapton tape. but its thinner than the one in my laptop. Do you think I should buy the kapton tape?

Basic electrical tape would probably do the job fine. Anything that won't melt at high temperatures really.

electrical tape has a weak adhesive that peals off over time. most tapes will work but the best would probably be aluminum tape. even duct tape would work but it will slightly melt and leave a redsinue

I tried to cut it, but it won't. It looks like it is made of plastic or some other material. The only way to remove it is to break it from the middle. Is it safe to do so?

sure break it close to the heatpipe though and when you put it back together tape the remaining plastic to the heat pipe.
