Hello, I hope you can help me, with your expertise.

I am experiencing issues with games all of the sudden.

It all started while playing Batman Arkham yesterday, when my frame rate dropped to less than 10 and stayed there no matter what. I thought at first it was a problem with the game seeing as there are plenty of complains about it, although I had been playing at lowest settings and all was perfect (no lag, no stutter, nothing). However, I tried other games and the problem was evident in these too. I tried uninstalling video drivers, cleaning up and re-installing them to no avail.

I also ran Furmark and during tests, my framerate never went above 10. It was sad.

My specs:
EVGA GeForce GTX 760 w/ EVGA ACX Cooling 2GB VRAM
8GB of RAM (Corsair)
1TB SSD Samsung 850 EVO
AMD FX 8320 3.5GHZ
Mainboard Gigabyte 990FXA-UD5
PSU Corsair RM1000 1000 watts - Modular - 8 pci-e 6/8 Pin - CP-9020062-WW (bought 6 months ago)

Can this be fixed or is my card already FUBAR ? :(

Thank you all for your help.

Juan Carlos

-check your gpu clock settings. if theres nothing wrong with that
-check if the issue is present with older drivers, maybe you updated them just before the issue occured.
-try your card on another pcie slo or mobo, if the same thing happens in an other pc
- 960 is great for 1080p gaming (sry bro)

Yes @andy_Man, like I said, I even uninstalled video drivers and reinstalled previous (this process requieres a reboot). The problem is not local to Batman only, it happens in other games.

@ComputerEden,
- I have EVGA PrecisionX and it currently says my GPU Clock is at 135MHZ (isnt this too low?), Temp 43°C, voltage 975mv.
- No, actually, before installing Arkham, I updated my drivers and all was fine with the game (smooth as silk). The Witcher 3 also played fine. Then last night out of the blue, my fps went down and now it's like watching a slideshow.
- I haven't tried the card on another slot... Think that could be it? It's not easy for me to go tinker with my PC because I am handicapped, I depend on help for these things, xD. I'll see if i can test this.
- If my graphic card is dying, which should I get? My budget is tight, and apparently nowadays cards only last 2 years :(

I fired up Witcher 3, and it's still like watching a slideshow. GPU Temp stays stable at 47°C ... however, I'm curious that even when game open, Precision X still reports GPU clock at 135MHZ?

My CPU stays stable at 55°C

Thank you,

Like I said, it's not the game. At first I thought so, but I tried other games, like The Witcher 3, and same result. Also, when I started playing Arkham, the game ran PERFECT (on low settings). No lag, no stuttering, Perfect. I advanced 17% story without hiccups when all hell broke lose.

Yes, I replied above. I gave you the info you requested. What I have not been able to test is moving my card to another slot. I need help for that.

sry i overread your answer because of all the answers given here...

i think its your driver. if your gpu works on another board / in another pc it will be your drivers/ software. or board

you will either have to try it yourself or just go to a pc shop and pay for the service and let them test your gpu / board

Thank you friend. A tech guy will be coming tomorrow morning, hopefully I can test it out. I'll update this if I find something.

It turned out the video card was damaged (physically, a small chip was semi-melted), which is why it didn't go above idle speed. I got a new one, and without changing drivers, it is working fine now.
