Hi. I'm am trying to create a custom disk image for Windows 8.1 that is running on Dell Venue 11 Tablets. It has specific applications, along with bookmarks in various browsers that all need to be intact with each image that is applied. I have one base tablet that has the image I want to apply to the other 43. What would be the best way to go about this? Each of the tablets has its own product key that needs to be applied. I do not want the original tablet's product key to be pulled.

What program would you recommend and how you would you go about this?

Thanks.

Well, Ghost or Altiris would probably do it, though I'm not sure how the tablet aspect would shake things up. WIndows PXE has a multicast mode but I don't know much about it.

PXE imaging anything with no Ethernet port, like a Surface Pro 3, can be frustrating. WIM sucks too. I guess you could set up WDS but that's kind of hands on.

Well at my office, which is where this will be done, we actually have docks that allow the tablets to be connected to ethernet directly. Does this offer another solution?

Thanks.

This is the issue. We want literally everything to be the same, internet shortcuts, drivers, everything except for the prodcut key. Is there a way to do that? Are there any videos you reccommend?

Thanks.

Well, assuming the connections from the docks allow you to boot from the network, it would just be a matter of setting up the source, and DHCP or TFTP. It's not difficult (but can be tricky) and there are plenty of guides for deploying after you have your custom WIM file created.

Yes there is a way to do it. in general the process is as follows:
first you configure the system the way you want it, with software, shorctus, defaults, everything.
then you run the sysprep command, and shutdown the system.
then you use your deployments solution to upload the image.
and finally you deploy the image to as many devices as you want.

you have to decide what your deployment solution is going to be and we can go from there

basically how are you going to deploy the image, over the network with PXE, with a CD or USB, directly from Hard drive to hard drive?
