Hello all, I decided to pick out Corsair ram for building my PC.

"CORSAIR Vengeance 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Desktop Memory Model CMZ8GX3M2A1600C9B"

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820145345

But when I go to CPU-Z the DRAM Frequency shows 666.8 Mhz. I don't know why it is not showing up as 1600 Mhz. I am using a 4790k, Msi gaming 5 motherboard and a Msi GTX 970. I am not sure if I should go into bios and mess with something, this is my first build. Any help would be much appreciated. Thank you in advance.

Solution
SInce it is DDR3, it will only show up as half the effective frequency (DDR=Double Data Rate). In your case 666 mhz means your ram is running at 1333 mhz. So while it should not show up as 1600 mhz, it should show up as 800 mhz.

TO fix this go into the BIOS and choose to auto config your ram through intel xmp profile. It should auto configure the ram to its 1600 mhz speed. Read your motherboard/BIOS manual on how to do this exactly.

Solution
CMZ8GX3M2A1600C9B
SPD Latency 9-9-9-24
SPD Speed 1333MHz
SPD Voltage 1.5V
Speed Rating PC3-12800 (1600MHz)
Tested Latency 9-9-9-24
Tested Speed 1600Mhz
Tested Voltage 1.5V

SPD is a memory hardware feature that makes it possible for the computer to know what memory is present, and what timings to use to access the memory. Your memory is operating normally.

You are mistaken to think you can just pop them in and they will run at there rated specifications. They run at SPD specifications not their rated specifications. You will need to enable XMP (eXtreme Memory Profile) or manually set the memory clock and DRAM Timings. I am not familiarized with the Msi gaming 5 and don't know exactly what BIOS settings it has available for memory.
