No the device is alway limited to the data bus its connected to so even though your usb 3.0 device can go faster and is compatible with the 2.0 bus it will be limited to the 2.0 bus bandwidth which is alot slower

Since my motherboard does not have a USB 3.0 header, is there any possible way to still use it? Probably not but its worth it to ask.
Just remember that if you do buy a card and it has 2x USB3 connections, if it runs through a pci-E 3 x 1 connection socket it can only get USB3 data rates on one device at a time.
I am only looking to use 1 USB 3.0 anyways, so that would be fine
