Hey guys, i recently bought a wd blue 1tb HDD and a 250GB samsung 850 EVO. I got them today and im trying to get them working. Heres my problem. my original HDD is in 2 partitions, (C&D) what im trying to do is move D drive from the original HDD to the WD 1TB HDD and my C drive to the SSD. the program that comes with Samsung is only letting me copy the entire HDD to the SSD, so my plan was to copy D to the new HDD and then delete it and copy C to the SSD. im trying to use acronis migrate easy but when i go through the wizard, it works fine then says i need to reboot to continue. so i do that, and nothing happens. the PC loads as normal. i log in and wait. nothing happens? am i missing something? is there an easier way to do this? i thought about just copy and pasting my entire D drive to the new HDD but then thought all my shortcuts and programs wouldnt work correctly? any help here would be greatly appreciated!

If you can find them, yes, copying bookmarks, etc would work just fine.
Applications? Some may work, but an actual reinstall is highly recommended, if not required.

You're trying to do too many things at once.

Migrate the C partition and the small System Reserved partition to the SSD
Wait until its done.
Disconnect all drives except the SSD
See if it boots.

After, then we can do something about the D partition.

Easus Todo and Macrium Reflect will allow specific partitions.
This from Macrium:

Select and unselect as needed.

Ok, i ran macrium and got the following error at around 60% of checking the files "clone failed-read failed-2-broken pipe-verifyfilesystem failed".

Edit

Ok, so here's where im at. I got acronis to work but it copied my entire original HDD to the new HDD. Ok, no biggie ill just delete the new C partition and repartition it all to D later. my main concern is getting the SSD to have the original C drive and me my main C drive/Boot drive. So after that error, i did some snooping and found a couple things that i tried and failed. the original C drive has errors but i cant scan it with any tool because it says its in use. so i scanned the new C drive and fixed the problems on it. then tried to copy the new C drive to the SSD and got the same error except there was no "verifysystemfailed".

Ok guys, so ive made quite a bit of progress. i performed a lean install on the SSD. all went well. problem is i dont have a network driver installed there so i cant use the internet. my question now is, is it possible to transfer all my drivers from the original HDD to the SSD?

You don't. You find some other machine or device and download them to a USB.

OK, before you do anything else, download the LAN driver and save it to a USB stick.

After...disconnect ALL drives except your SSD.
Power on and see if it boots OK.

In your pic, the current "C" drive - why is that so small?

Ok, the Lan is the network driver correct? i will reboot again with them disconnected but it ran perfect when i did that before. Its small because i was dumb and didnt know what i was doing when i set everything up :( (about 6 years ago )

Edit.

Can i put the new driver on the USB i used to install windows or will i need to format it?

You can put it on whatever USB you want, but you'd probably have to format the one you used to install with.

Ok, so I downloaded a new driver to the usb, but when I try and install it, it says I don't have an Intel adapter or something along those lines...?

Edit.

I manually had the computer search for drivers from the old HDD. And that worked. Updating drivers now, will post results

Alright, some progress. I have installed and updated just about everything. So now my question is this, on my old HDD, it seemed like the C&D partitions worked together (games installed on D loading saves and info from C) and so forth. Now, it seems like nothing recognizes each other. No programs or games in my start bar or anything like that(when i manually try to start steam it says its not properly installed on the computer even though its on the original HDD and was copied to the new HDD). only when i boot from the old HDD. so my question is how can i get everything running together again?

To recap:
1. You eventually did a clean install on the SSD, and are booting from that SSD
2. The stuff that lives on your old HDD "D" partition (which is probably no longer D) is no longer recognized by the new OS, correct?

That is what is to be expected. The new OS knows nothing about them.
You need to reinstall those applications.

1. Yes
2.Yes

So basically both HDD's are useless now(in regards to the SSD all the data. They both work fine. Not saying they dont work)? I need to reinstall everything that was on them? Copying some settings like browser bookmarks or simple user stuff will not work correct?

Alright, thanks for all your help! One last question, once i play around a little more and im happy with where i have things, it will be ok to re format both HDD's since the SSD wont recognize their data correct?
