generally its a good idea not to mix different ram or different sizes together. if it does works it will run normally. However in my experience mixing different sizes/brands of ram does not play well with each other

You're already running in single channel mode with that un-matched pair, so provided the new DIMM works and you don't get a slower one, it won't make any difference to the performance.

I'm question your approach though. In my experience you usually get away with mixing RAM, but there are no guarantees they'll all play happily together, so you do take a risk. Plus, 8GB is enough for gaming and most tasks. Proper content creation (like video editing) definitely benefits from 16... but you already have 12GB... the situations where an extra 4GB of RAM is going to make a tangible difference will be few and far between. So you're spending money and risking compatibility issues for very little gain.

If you have good reason for wanting 16GB RAM, I'd suggest spending just a little extra on a single 8GB DIMM which matches your current 8GB. That way you have a pretty good chance (again, no guarantees) of getting 16GB in dual channel mode. Take you 4GB out and sell it or use it in another build.

actuaaly i removed existing 4gb since pc was slow even though it was 12gb. but iam not able to sell 4gb , i thought buying another 4gb and adding in dual chanel mode along with single 8gb together total 16gb would help me with extension ram

You'll only get dual channel mode if you RAM is in matching pairs. So the 2x4GB might give you dual channel 8GB, but as soon as you add that extra 8GB DIMM you can no longer run in dual channel mode.

It's not actually that big of a deal though, there's not many applications that are memory constrained. If I was in your shoes and I had 12GB in and working, I'd just leave it at that.
