hi all, i have a asus m5a78l-m/usb3 motherboard, which doesnt support sataIII, and i am planning to buy an ssd, which is sataIII, and i have read that it will run, but at the cost of speed(not much, as i read). How much speed will i lose?

also, i cant decide which ssd i should buy:
-kingston 240gb sv300 ssdnow for 94,91$
-kingston hyperx fury 240gb for 101,76$
-kingston hyperx savage 240gb for 121,71$
-samsung 250gb evo basic for 116,86$
these are the prices in my country, i cant order from abroad

p.s. i know there are threads about it, but i didnt find any with my motherboard

2GBps? SATAII tops out at 300MBps. When I tested this I hit ~290MBps if my memory serves. When I swapped from my P55 board to my Z77 and used the non Intel SATA III controller it went up to ~375MBps. I swapped my drives around and hit ~525MBps which is what my drive is supposed to do. It will be slower, but from the benchmark testing I did it didn't change the overall speed much.

The 470 would be the SATA II drive speed, while the 840Pro would be the SATA III. It's a second faster loading levels. Not much to worry about in my limited testing.

so as i understood, it's still worth getting, thanks for the replies.

but i still have one more question: which ssd is the best choice for the prices listed in the main question?
