Hello this is my first build i know all parts are compatible but i want to know if the fx-6300 will bottleneck the gtx 970. are there any changes i should make to make this a better build. The goal I would like to achieve with this is to be able to play all the new and upcoming games on ultra with playable framerates. Should I change the CPU or the motherboard? If so with what. I am on a budget so i don't want to go over $ 750. Also would i be able to overclock this? if so till what lengths. Would a r9 280x double dissipation be better or a gtx 970 or a gtx 960. Please suggest. Reminder i would like to play on a mix of high and ultra settings, games like batman arkham knight and other upcoming high end graphic games.

Build: http://pcpartpicker.com/p/VJVxK8

Thanks in advance,

You can choose to renmove the SSD if you like. But SSD will help windows boot up speeds and also faster loading of programs and games installed in it. Just need the windows to be installed in SSD along with the programs and keep 20% of it free for better results.

See if this is okay for you. FX 6300 is a very good CPU with a lot of headroom for Overclocking if you are interested in. It is also a very good value for money.

Yes a 6300 will bottleneck a GTX-970 for cpu intensive games.

You can not overclock on a 970 chipset board you would need to upgrade to a 990 chipset to overclock.

I would recommend getting a FX-8320, a better motherboard and a 280x GPU. This will be a more balanced build and you can upgrade GPU latter if you need more.

thank you for the time you put in. do you know how much overclocking i would be able to do with this? And also this is going a bit over budget since i would have to purchase a monitor and a desk so is there a way i can save a bit on this? and will this be able to play all the new and upcoming games in high and ultra setting on playable framerates? Also why do you recommend the antec nine hundred isntead of phantom 410?

Thank you for replying

I don't think there would be any problem with overclocking in that board. There are tones of data available on overclock.net and toms regarding overclocked FX chips on that board. I have come through a few of them for my rig as well. And GTX 970 is not going to bottleneck with that GPU as far as I have seen.

It may come close. But not bottleneck.

It will be able to play almost all the games at high settings for some time. Just wait for DX12 and see what it will bring to the table. I heard it is optimized to better utilize the system resources which are usually idle at the time of games or other CPU or GPU intensive tasks. So there might be even better news for us.

For this built, it will be very good for gaming at high settings and decent fps.

There was a compatibility issue listed on the part picker site regarding that case and the graphic card being properly fitting into it.

Sorry I saw this one after I replied for the post just above.

ok thank you senseijtitus, i will be going with the cheaper build since this is my first time, and after a 2-3 years i would save money for the latest graphics card, better motherboard, and a better CPU. Thank you so much for helping me out on this, i really appreciate it. Also just to clarify the cheaper build will be able to play all the new and upcoming games? I will be going with the motherboard you suggested for right now.

Sorry. Was a little busy here.

There would not be any bottle necking with that GPU. You can use the AMD Utilities to adjust the CPU & GPU frequencies if any issue does appear.
