Is it possible for windows 7 to boot up under 15s in default settings?

Solution
On a fresh install, probably, yes. It depends how long the BIOS takes to boot itself up...some are much longer than others.

Of course, once you start adding Windows Updates and programs...it slows back down again. I think mine's somewhere in the 20-25s range, including my BIOS startup, until I see my desktop w/ a 256 GB SSD (which is a bit of an older model, the Crucial M500).

You could think that. You'd probably be wrong, though.

Erm but I'm asking for windows 7 not 8..
I see quite a number of youtube vids done that but my windows 7 boot up in 40s. However, I need to admit I've tons of programs and stuffs to boot.

Admirable

2 ssd's in raid 0 is still better in most bencharks

I have Windows 7 Home on my HTPC with a 128GB Samsung SSD - It boots in about 10-15 seconds (I haven't put it to a stop-watch). Windows 8 typically boots in about 1/2 the time - on the other PC's/Laptops in my house it is 5-10 seconds with the SSD installed. If you are using a hard drive, expect 25-60 seconds load time depending upon hardware and junk that is loaded.

Real world boot performance is not 'benchmarks'.

And that has a huge impact on how fast it might boot.

Sorry I figured out my question is not clear enough == my bad. Well what i mean is that with ahci enabled,256gb ssd, a new fresh install of windows 7, without any startup programs or any changes made to bios/windows 7 system configuration. Does it boot up under 15s?

1. Will a fresh Win 7 install boot in under 15 seconds? Dunno. Very, very few people have only a Win 7 install with nothing else going on.

2. Don't believe everything you see in a youtube video.

3. Do an install like that. See what happens.

My future laptop will solely for my schoolwork which most likely only require boot up one or 2 programs while my current desktop I do not mind slow bootup since its powered on most of the time.

Exactly

Cannot afford to lose my win 7 settings in desktop. Unless you're telling me all win 8 laptops can work in both windows 7 and 8,then this thread will be closed :D
