So I just picked up a cheap gaming headset from Wally World today because I accidentally broke my old headset.

Anyways, the cups are clearly marked "L" for left side and "R" for right side. However, the sound comes out of the wrong side. For example, when I play a game and someone is walking on my right side, I hear them to my left. This happens whether I'm in a game or if I'm in the Audio manager.

I haven't seen any answers for this other than
1.) Flip around the headphones
2.) Take headphones back and get new headphones
3.) Tear apart my headphones, and solder stuff together.

I'd rather not do any of these, but if I have to I'll take them back.

Before I do so I'd like to see if anyone has a solution to this.

By the way, the brand is Blackweb, and they are USB headphones. I've tried plugging them into every USB port on my PC.

Solution
It sounds like you got a bad pair of headphones. This sort of thing happens way too often with cheaply made electronics.

Changing USB ports wont help because the USB ports send the same data to the headphones regardless of what port you connect them to.

Unfortunately, your only solutions are the 3 that you listed... :(

Click on the volume icon at the bottom left of your desktop. Right click it and select playback devices

Right click your device/headphone and click on properties. Locate the enhancements tab and if you see any setting named reverse stereo, disable it apply settings and exit.

Hopefully it works.

Open device manager and see if you can locate your headphone device somewhere in the sound devices. Right click it and update the drivers (you can also do this for any other drivers you see are labelled with a yellow caution mark sign)

Dang I was hoping there'd be a quick fix like Reyaz suggested... I guess not though. :( Welp, it looks like I'm taking these back. Thanks for the help both of you!

And Reyaz, I tried that earlier and it said the drivers were up to date. :/

If you liked the headset, just have Walmart exchange them for a new pair. Hopefully it was just some bored factory worker not paying attention when they were soldering everything together on that specific pair you got. And because they were cheapy, they weren't tested very well.

Good luck! :)
