Hey guys, for the last two years I've been using a Sapphire Radeon HD 7850 OC 2GB graphics card but it burned out a few days ago. I am currently looking at the Sapphire R9 380 2GB and Sapphire R9 380 4GB. I want something quieter than my 7850 so which one should I get? Is there something better? I'm on budget and Sapphire seems to make good cards for decent money. Thanks

I have a 650 PSU, 3570k intel cpu, 8gb of ram, z77 mobo, my budge is around $200.

If you want to go with 380 go with 4 gb version (more future proof). In that price range good card also is 960 (slightly weaker but with lower power consumption). There are better cards like 970 or 390 depending on your system spec. and budget.

Best luck!

thats a good quality system. I advice to get 100$ and go for the 970. your system will support it and it will give u a blast, other cards like the 380 won't give you that huge upgrade over your current gpu.

My 7850 broke. I don't know what happened but it doesn't work on my computer or when I tried to plug it into my friend's computer. The fans spin but no video output.

If I go with a 970, would I want to go with MSI or EVGA?

Well it depends on which EVGA and which MSI because there are multiple "series" but both MSI and EVGA will almost the same performance as seen here: EVGA https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=maHjxA6F2nE
and here: MSI https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WVpZVgK9_jk
The FPS is different probably because of using different recording software but it is still playable
so I dont know because both cards are great but in the end its up to you but if this was me I would go with EVGA
but if you will buy GTX 970 dont forget to check if the cables,... are compatible...

Here are 3 I'm looking at right now,

http://www.amazon.com/EVGA-GeForce-256bit-Graphics-04G-P4-3975-KR/dp/B00R3NK2LE/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1435440397&sr=8-3&keywords=nvidia+970

Thanks for your help. Also, what cables were you referring to? PSU cables?

Tell me your PSU model. it should have at least 2x 6+2 pin pcie connectors so check if you have them. I'd choose EVGA over MSI that's sure. however In my opinion Gigabyte makes the best 900 series custom PCB cards. and the WF3 cooling is also one of the best. You sohuld check the gigabyte G1 gaming gtx 970, but EVGA is high quality aswell so it's more like down to preference. I'm not sure about EVGA cards TDPm, but i know the G1 gaming both 970 and 980 comes with 300W TDP in vbios so it definitely gives a huge room for OCing if you have a sufficient PSU to take the load :p
