Weird "hiccups" in every game.

I have a weird problem that is pretty much mandatory in every game I play. I don't know what's the cause and I don't if it's something that is normal on PC. Never had that problem on consoles before.

So basically, it seems that when I enter new areas, the game freezes for less than a second. Happens in The Witcher 3, Skyrim, Fallout NV, GTA V, Crysis 3, Batman Arkham Origins, etc. Pretty every game I can think of.

So I thought it was my HDD, but everyone says that it doesn't matter what HDD you have (7200rpm 16mb cache). Thought it might have been my ram, but once upgraded from 4 to 8, the problem was still there.

FX 8350 4.00ghz
R9 270x 2Gb 14' series club 3D
970A- G43 MSI
8Gb ram 1600
Cooler Master Extreme2 725
HDD 7200rpm 16mb cache

The problem is so annoying, that I consider buying my games on consoles instead because the experience is much more smoother and pleasant. I can't believe that's how PC gaming is in general and there must be something wrong with my setup.

I'm not 100% sure, but it sounds like the game is loading textures to your VRAM which causes the hitch. It is only when you load into a new area right?

Do you overclock your 270? IF so, try cutting back on the OC to see if that clears it.

If you don't overclock, see if have USB 3 on your motherboard and a thumb drive that is also USB 3, you can put a game on it and load it from the thumb drive to see if the same hitch happens when loading into a new area. If it does get rid of it, it is just your hard drive not loading textures quickly enough to VRAM.

Yea, pretty much every time I load a new area, or just when I move in it. I really do think it's when the game tries to load new part of the area. Games like 7 Days to Die, Space Engineers are literally unplayable on my PC.

No, nothing is overclocked on my PC.

I do have a USB 3 port on my motherboard, but I would need to buy a good 3.0 flash drive. Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't USB 3.0 slower than SATA?

Yes and no to USB 3 being slower than SATA. Compared to a mechanical hard drive, no - most USB 3 thumb drives will be faster.

Oh, I see that you have overclocked your FX-8350. I have a back up rig with one of those, and when I overclocked it too high games and benchmarks hitched too. Bring your FX's OC back down, or better yet set it back to stock and test again. If that fixes it you need to dial in your CPU OC better. It might be hitting the thermal limit, or maybe it doesn't have enough voltage.

EDIT: I have a lower clocked version, but yours is stock 4 GHz. Can you use Core Temp to check your CPU load temperatures? Is your CPU voltage set to auto?

Those both look just fine. As for the CPU voltage, you can always go into your BIOS and load optimal defaults, save, and exit - which will set it to auto. There may be a couple things you would have to set again, such as XMP RAM profiles, ACHI/RAID for drives, etc.

What drivers are you using? The latest 15.6, or older? Have you tried a clean install of your drivers? DDU is a free program that works extremely well and completely removes AMD (or Nvidia) drivers in Safe Mode. It even will reboot your PC into Safe Mode if you are running Windows 8 / 8.1 (which is not very straight forward compared to previous Windows versions).

Yea, I've been having this problem since the very first day I had my PC. I changed cpu, rams, motherboards, power supply, case (everything except my graphics card and HDD) a few months ago and formatted my HDD just to find the same issue as before. And I did a clean install of my drivers not long ago as well (with my new parts), but unfortunately that didn't help.

My driver is the one that's been released for The Witcher 3, 15.5 I think. I didn't download the last one yet.

I haven't really mess in the BIOS so far. I'll take a look to make sure it is indeed set on auto.

If you've already replaced everything except the GPU (and HDD), I would ask a friend if you could borrow their GPU to test. Just use DDU to uninstall your old drivers first. Try that before buying anything more.

Also, you can try running MSI Afterburner and set up a fan profile. There is a chance that the card is overheating, or maybe the fan isn't spinning fast enough causing the card to downclock. Edit: I've read that the 270X can supposedly handle 100C, but to me that is HOT HOT HOT! Personally, I'd keep it under 80C with a fan profile.

Got a new HDD (WD Blue 1TB) and the problem is still there.

I changed my PSU, as I was told that it was a danger to my PC (EVGA 750 B2) and the problem is still here (didn't expect anything tbh from the PSU).

So now the only thing left to do is to actually test another GPU, something that I won't be able to do anytime soon, and change the mobo (I've been told that it's a pretty crappy one and is known to have issues).
