Will an R9 390x xfire with a R9 280x

Hi

I have purchased a R9 390x as an addition to my 280x, I am now wondering whether I have made a mistake.

I thought I would of been able to xfire no problem given its the same architecture but apparently this is not the case.

I am really hoping someone on here can shed some light on this and if it can where am I going wrong cause I really cannot find the answer online.

No you will not be able to xfire the two. they are not the same gpu and not same memory. I would recommend selling the 280x and buying another 390x, thats if you want to xfire

A 390X will not. The condition to crossfire two AMD GPUs is to have two GPUs of the same architecture. You don't necessarily need the same GPU and the same memory, but it is preferred for no bottlenecks. The 280X is Tahiti, so you can crossfire a 280X with a 7870XT/7950/7970/280/280X.
