Okay, I've been having issues for nearly a week, scouring forum threads in several places, as well as various articles tracked through Google, and now I'm desperate enough (and sufficiently frustrated) to start a thread.

I am running Windows 8.1, and Facebook will not load in any browser. Nor will the secure associates-only site run by one of my employers. This does not, however affect ALL secure sites (e.g. I still have access to my banking and several other secure sites).

When I try a ping for Facebook, the ping fails.

I have tried several things, including flushing my DNS cache and setting Google for my DNS. I have completely unplugged my internet cable (and its power supply) and replugged it back in a couple of times. Computer has been rebooted numerous times.

My Facebook account itself is not blocked, as I can use Facebook on my phone. In any case, this is not a Facebook-only issue.

Any ideas?

Well, I managed to get everything working again by bypassing my router. (Didn't really have any choice—I reset factory defaults on the router and then it locked me out of the software, whether I entered my password or set the password field blank.) Not sure why the router would go awry out of the blue like that and only for certain sites. Not really happy with the solution, but I've only got one computer on the internet at the moment, so it will do.
