My Dell windows 7 machine has had a memory upgrade to the max capacity of 8gb of the crucial enthusiast type of ram.
When I look at msinfo is shows 8gb total memory but only 1.8gb installed.
when I go to the task manager it doesnt show all the memory and the
thing is slower than slow to do anything...

any suggestions are appreciated...

Thanks

Solution
Remove all of your ram first. Seat the ram in, one by one going by color first (example the mobo with have blue, red, or black slots. Choose to put the ram in the same color slots first 1 ram stick in blue another ram stick in blue and repeat.

Boot your PC up and see if its solved

This is a laptop. No colored slots.

Who did the memory upgrade? You, Dell, someone else?
Did it work before this?
Do you have 2 matching 4GB RAM sticks?
