deciding if I should go x99 or z97.
I am basically a gamer, My Antec kuhler 620 pump died, so I Got a coarsiar h100i GTX which works good. I replaced my board (from Gigabyte z87x-DH3 to asus z97 deluxe (wifi+NFC) which worked initially but I had a cpu header error on boot up no matter what header i used. However it then stopped working and only the power button on the motherboard remained red but It would not start up even if I tried to start it up from the motherboard button
So I put back my gigabyte motherboard and I kept going through a boot with no display and reboot again with no display cycle. Then after messing with it I realized the that 2 of my ram slots , 2 and 4 were not working but it booted up with the other two, no matter what Rams I used. I tested all of them on 1 and 3 they all worked.
I want to know if I should go x99 or z97.
I was looking at the GA-Z97X-Gaming G1 WIFI-BK because it has a PLX chip which allows 4 PCI 3.0 x8 at minimall incase I want to buy a TV tuner or USB 3.1 PCI device. But it also supplies PCI 3.0 at x16 dual if the other two are not used.
Or if they are better options.
I Have been having a shit week with my computer recently. However I was looking at these z97 motherboards and alot of them are very basic and dont even include wifi. I may not need it though since I use ethernet from the power line through the outlet, leading to connect to a router. I forgot what its called right .
I have a i7470k and a 4770k cpu. I was was thinking of building a new rig and sell it. or just sell the parts also.
I was looking at the 5930K but I don't think I would need that If I have the G1 gaming wi BK motherboard because of the PLX. From what I learned it supplies PCI lanes from the GPU to the Chip, than feeds 16 PCI lanes to the chip.
Also if you think AMD will come through with drivers. I was thinking of selling my 980 sli . I am ordering Titan Hybrids but I saw The radeon fury X and it looked promising, but as long as AMD will actually come up with good driver support which I have been reading they have very bad driver support history, We already know The 980Ti are currently superior, I want 4k gaming at 60hz which my 980s just cant do well.
