Computer Stuck At Motherboard Splash Screen

Last night I turned off my PC normally like I do every time but this morning I encountered problems with turning it on. The machine turns on, but immediately after several seconds the red indicator light goes permanently on and then the motherboard splash screen is displayed... And that's it. The PC won't move beyond that. I made no significant changes to my system.

I have taken the following steps to try and fix this myself before reporting it:
- tried restarting several times (sometimes waiting a bit with the master power switch off)
- tried booting up with all USB devices disconnected
- disconnected everything, cleaned the casing, reseated every component
- removed the CMOS battery and held the power button pressed for 20 seconds to purge
- banged on the casing with my fist a few times

After trying to boot again somehow I managed to get this screen: Image 1, but I'm not sure if it was something that I pressed or if it would have displayed anyway. It displayed after the motherboard splash was once again present for far too long. I believe I just pressed enter.

The PC restarted and once again all I could get was the splash screen. My keyboard lights were off so I thought it wasn't even getting power but if I pressed TAB I would get this: Image 2. CTRL ALT DEL did restart the PC, but trying any other keys except that and TAB did not do anything. Thus I could not enter BIOS for example.

After this restart I went and disconnected everything again and made sure to reseat both of my hard drives, booted up the machine and again the same splash screen. Only this time if I pressed TAB I would get the Image 2 but only the first few lines, down to the motherboard model number. The rest of the text did not display at all.

This is where I stopped trying. Figured I tried everything a mortal (aka someone who knows practically nothing about computers) can try. I mean, I know a bit but even though I am a computer technician that doesn't help me because they taught me nothing at school and I could never find work in my field. I hope someone here can help me, otherwise I have no choice to but give the PC to a repair shop and besides costing money I never had pleasant experiences with those.

pls halp :(

SITUATION UPDATE:

Got a friend over and we messed around in BIOS a bit, disabled motherboard splash, changed the CMOS battery and that was not it. In fact I checked my battery with a multimeter and it was more than fine. After all the fiddling a new problem replaced the old... right after the splash - so ther first black screen with text like Image 2 above - I get a message DISK BOOT FAILURE

I googled this alot and if my disk got a bad sector or the (registry) files went corrupt, then why did it not display this error right away? Instead it only came on after we messed around BIOS. Afterwards I went and downloaded the most recent BIOS update for my motherboard and installed it and we did all the simple fixes like changing the boot order and stuff. Nothing worked. I keep getting the disk boot failure message.

The only thing I can think of next is to reinstall windows and hope that fixes it, but first I need to backup my Desktop folder because I had a few files that I really don't want to lose on it. If anyone can recommend a good program to do this, I'd be grateful. I learned online that I'm supposed to take the disk to a healthy PC and use some software that can get the files out.

If that doesn't work, then I guess my disk is broken? I just don't understand how that could have happened overnight with a shutdown machine :/

Image 1 would have been because you removed the battery. Reconfigure the BIOS settings. Or replace the battery. Then reconfigure the BIOS

If you manage to get it to work update the BIOS as well. Just make sure you get the right BIOS for the revision of the mobo

Disable the logo/splash screen in the BIOS. So you can see what its doing

Are there any IDE hdds in the case?? If there isnt (if there's only SATA hdds) disable IDE in the BIOS

It maybe looking for ide drives if that image 2 thing is still coming up. if there are no ide hdds on it disable IDE in the bios

Also make sure nothing else in plugged in like flash drives

Whats in the desktop folder? If theyre docs / pics copy them to a flash drive

I have a 200 GB and 750 GB HDDs, both SATA and no more than 3 years old. The smaller disk I use only for the OS and some essentials small programs, whereas the larger disk is for my files and games. Among all the things I tried in BIOS, disabling IDE was one.

I unplugged every USB device except my keyboard and mouse. The problem is not that. I suspect that something went wrong with the OS on the first drive. I will attempt reinstall but I need to get my files out first. It's just a few folders containing image files, a couple text documents and a .pdf or two.

But how would I just copy them to a flash drive if the disk went bad?
