About a year ago I built my first computer, everything was working great, no problems. However, a couple of days ago, I've been experiencing display driver crashes. The odd thing is, while playing games there is no problem, I can play Star Citizen for hours. But as soon as I start using some kind of internet browser (Firefox and Chrome are the ones I've tried), I start having problems. And it's not immediately either, sometimes it takes a while for the driver to crash, but sometimes it happens pretty quickly. This has been getting pretty irritating and any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

System Specs:

  • ■ Motherboard - Asus Z87-A
    ■ PSU - Corsair RM1000
    ■ CPU - Intel i7 4770k
    ■ GPU - 2x Asus DirectCU II GTX780 in SLI
    ■ Storage - 120GB Samsung 840 EVO & 1TB WD Black

I had this same exact problem with Chrome after enabling an SLI configuration. In Chrome go to Settings ------> Advanced Settings ------> Uncheck the box that says "Use Hardware Acceleration when Available"

I haven't noticed any negative impact with browsing on Chrome and I haven't had a Display Driver crash since. Let me know if that works

For Firefox, there should be a similar option in the settings menu

Thanks for the quick reply. Turned it off, I'll resume normal use of the internet for today and tell you how it turned out tomorrow.
