I have just switched the mother board in my computer and the machine turns on fans and lights for a split second then shuts off, does this 3 more times then stops and does nothing. No system beeps.

What is the problem why won't it boot up?

System Specs:
Old mother board - Asus z971 plus
New Mother board - gigabyte Z97x sli Intel LGA1150z97 atx
Corsair CP9020062 RM1000 watt 80 PLUS gold - fully modular power supply
Intel quadcore i5 4670k 3.4 gigabyte 6mb cache
Intel CPU fan
120 gb Kingston ssd
1T Sata III
2 AVGA GeForce GTX 970 SLI
32 gb hyperX RAM

Any help with this would be GREATLY APPRECIATED!

Thanks

Swapping MB's rarely works unless the boards were the same model or close like the same manufacturer with similar drivers. The 2 boards were too different from each other with different drivers and configuration files. The thing to do is to save all the stuff that you don't want to lose and reinstall windows from scratch.

Understood. How can I reinstall windows though if I can't get the machine to turn on and stay on for more than a split second?

Thanks

If you cannot get into bios to set the optimized defaults, check and make sure the 8-pin CPU power connector is plugged in and the 24-pin power connector too. Double check all of your wiring.

Might need a boot disk to format the HDD.

Can also reset the BIOS by unplugging the board completely for a good ten mins or so. Then you will have to boot straight into bios and set optimized defaults then set the memory speed and timings.
