PC crashed and is not recognizing monitor or resolutions. Only running on my TV through HDMI cable. Possible dead GFX card?

My PC recently crashed and when I tried to reboot it I was unable to display it on my monitor. I was able to reboot the PC in Safe Mode on my TV through an HDMI cable, but when I try to reinstall my drivers and reboot out of safe mode the TV and monitor either show a black or blue screen.

The device manager still shows the GFX card as existing, but I can't get it to recognize or display on my monitor or at higher resolutions. I think it may be using my motherboard's onboard graphics.

I have an AMD HD6800 and Windows 7. Do I need to replace my GFX card or is there something I can do?

I think your graphics card is dead now because this issue occurs mostly when capacitors are blown.Go ahead and try a spare graphics card (if you have as secondary or extra ) otherwise you need to buy a new one.

Thanks, do you happen to know why I would be able to run it with an HDMI cable? The cable is plugged directly into the card, that is the one thing that led me to believe it might not be the card.

Yeah that might be the suspect being connected directly,so if that is the case then use a DVI cable (another).Apparently direct HDMI connected isn't good so I prefer use another DVI cable.
