Okay, so I`ve got a set of Kingston HyperX Beast 2x4GB 2400 MHz (HX324C11T3K2/8) in my ASUS Maximus VII Ranger mobo. I have got these two sticks in the two red RAM slots on my mobo. I think they are in dual channel and that I am using XMP, I`ve set them to run at 2100 MHz I think.
My question is: Would it matter if I bought a set of (lets say) 2x8GB or a another set from another manufactorer? Do I have to buy the exact same set to utilize the dual channel and XMP?

Solution
Correct, there is no guarantee, you can pull sticks right off the assembly line and they might play, might not. That's why the manufacturers test the sticks that go into a package, to ensure they play nice

No,it doesn't matter whether you buy RAM sticks from kingston or any other manufaturer. The only thing that matters is that plug both sticks (dual-channel) of same manufacturer and equal capacity that is 4x2=8gb or 8x8=16gb.Also amount of RAM installation depends on your motherboard support. If it supports 16gb then you're good to go.

Cheers!

Mixing sets of DRAM is a crapshoot, they might play, they might not, check the forums, they are full of people trying to mix packages (often of the same exact model) and not being happy when the sets don't play. You can pull sticks right off the assembly line and find they won't play, that's why the manufacturers test and pair up sticks in a variety of number of DIMMs, a packaged set is guaranteed that all will play nice.

So, you are telling me that the best option here is to buy a set of 16GB ram? Even if I buy another set of exactly the same I will not be guaranteed that it will work?
