I was looking around on the internet to find out how many fans my motherboard can support and I saw on newegg that it has 2 CPU fan connectors 1x4pin and 1x3pin and it has 2 Chassis Fan Connectors 2x4pin, and 1 Power Fan Connector 1x3pin. Does anyone know what these all mean? I guess not all fans are created equal.

My PC Build:http://pcpartpicker.com/p/6WgdTW

EDIT: I might even end up chaning my motherboard.

Solution
They mean exactly what they say. CPU fan connectors are meant for CPU fans and water coolers, chassis fan are for chassis fans...etc. Truthfully, you can plug anything that will fit into they and they should be fine. That said, you will have to remember that when looking at fans in BIOS and such since they might not be accurate or reporting the wrong fan.

Ahhh I was thinking a chassis fan and a case fan was different. I'm still learning though.

I was looking at these motherboards, and was wondering if I should switch. Do you have any prefrences? The main thing making me not switch is the fact the the z97 anniversarry was made for the G3258.

My G3258 system has an MSI Z97 PC MATE but that's because I got a deal on a combo. To be honest you don't NEED a Z97 to OC the G3258. H81 and B85 mobos can do it though they may need a BIOS update. Most H97 boards can do it too. I use the H97 Anniversary in a lot of my non-OC boards because it's a quality board at a good price point. That said, the Z97 is a very good board as well and had it been out when I built my main system, I'd have probably gone with it instead of the Extreme4. If you're at all worried, play it safe and stick with the Z97.
