Just a tip here. I would replace the barracuda HDD with a WD brand. Barracudas have the highest failure rate out of all hard drives.

It specifically improves performance for gaming

It wouldn't give you more performance, just more space. Trust me, WD black is made for gaming and has 5 year warranty compared to 2 year for the other drives

I have a 256 GB SSD for gaming. Would a hard drive for it be necessary?

I'll get the WD Black 1 TB as I probably wont install more than 1 TB of games early.

You would probably have around 230GB of space for games because installing windows will take up some space.
That isn't very much space, but it will increase your boot times and game loading

Look at maximum 6-9 modern games being stored on it

Hmm it looks good with that gtx 970 :). But I am no expert at fans at the moment as posted in your original question

I would also get thermal paste (costs $5 or less) It may help you one day if you ever decide to reapply it for better cooling

Do you (or anyone else) think the g sync is a good idea? I plan to upgrade to sli 970 later. I was thinking of just a 144hz asus monitor but I think i would experience stuttering
