It depends on your definition of better. Better has in has the most bells and whistles? That would be the Hero everytime, Better as in the best price, go find a Biostar and remember that its price was low for a reason. Regardless of anything else, your best source of information are other users/buyers, while keeping in mind that people are far more likely to review if something when wrong as opposed to right. Read the 1 and 2 star reviews and see how many of them are bad because the person who bought it was just stupid or didn't have any idea what they were doing. Disregard those reviews. Similarly you can disregard the reviews of people whose product was DOA. They didn't get a chance to use it and thus have no reason reviewing...

Better? Well the Hero will be the best, but you get what you pay for.

I have the EXtreme4 as do two of my friends. They've has zero issues. My first one had a bad PCIe slot and the warranty replacement for that got fried when a breaker got tripped and reset when I wasn't home to protect my gear from people who don't know any better. Took the pump out on my water cooler too so I have had to run at stock.

Keep in mind how many of those you see though. A lot of DOAs would seem to indicate quality issues.

Generally speaking, for Intel motherboards, there are four contenders and then everyone else: ASRock, ASUS, Gigabyte, MSI. You'd most likely be happy with any of them.

Well choosing between competitng motherboards, especially at this price range is really just splitting hairs. Do you need/want more onboard USB connections? Are your partial to or want to avoid Realtek audio? Do you care about a particular color scheme? How many PCIex16 slots do you need? Do you need/want onboard VGA/DVI connectors or is just HDMI enough?

if none of that makes a difference, the last thing I'd look at is layout and whether certain headers are in odd places. This is often an issue with front panel audio and/or USB, which sometimes can be place on the bottom of the motherboard, near the rear of the computer. Are the cables that run from your fron panel long enough? Will your video card interfere with them? Things like this can at last eliminate choices than I couldn't decide amongst before.

May be worth mentioning that apparently Asus has better quality control. Though i've personally had more problems in general with Asus motherboards compared to MSI.

They're both great, go for your preferred colour scheme if none of the visible differences in ports/features set them apart for you.
Example;
i'd rather go for the MSI for double the USB 3.0 ports (Hero - x4 | MPower - x8)
Want the built in wifi or not?
Like Killer ethernet feature vs another brand?
etc.
