Hello everyone,

The company I work for is looking into hosting our own SQL Server. I've set many up in the past, but never on a professional level. I'm looking for some advice on the hardware I should put in the physical server.

Our database is not going to be too terribly big, so I think 2- 3TB of storage is fine.

But as far as SQL's impact on CPU and RAM, how intensive is it? Should I go with 64GB RAM or is 32GB perfectly fine?

Should I pitch forward the extra moolah to dual some Xeons or should 1 be able to handle the job?

I know everything kind of depends on the frequency the server will be accessed and how large the actual database is. I'm just looking for some guidance from this awesome community!

Looking forward to hearing back from you!
