I have a Medion pc which I haven't used in a couple months. Yesterday the HDD could still boot but it was nearing death so I decided to swap it for an SSD. I also swapped the 2x2GB (Elixir 1600mhz) with 1x8GB (Kingston Fury 1600mhz). The computer in question: http://www.diskidee.be/wp-content/uploads/2012/11/Technische-fiche-Aldi-MEDION-AKOYA-MD-8816-P5220-.pdf
The motherboard would be the MS-7797 if I'm not wrong.

When I tried booting from the windows 8 usb stick with my new hardware installed, nothing happened. It showed the "Press Del for bios, F8 for boot menu" message but pressing any button didn't do anything. After waiting 30 seconds it will beep once. Still nothing happens and spamming F8/Del or anything else does nothing. After another 30 seconds it will beep again and 30 seconds later it will beep one last time. After the third beep the "Press x and y" messages disappear and a flashing cursor appears in the left top corner like a cmd prompt. I can't do anything from here. Sometimes the flashing cursor also disappears leaving me with a black empty screen. Nothing happens after that point.

Disconnecting everything gives a 5-beep messages which doesn't happen when I have a keyboard connected so I think THESE error codes are applicable for my mobo. The 3 seperated beeps would mean the CPU died?

I tried:

  • resetting the cmos by removing the battery
resetting the cmos by shorting the clear cmos pins
booting with everything disconnected except for screen, CPU, ram and power cables mobo/cpu/pcie
booting with the mobo outside of the case
putting the old hard drive and ram back, same thing
    connecting a PS2 keyboard

The processor doesn't have integrated graphics so I have to boot with the GTX650 plugged in.

The

I have no idea what I could do next. Could this really be a CPU error/death? That'd be very random.

Thanks in advance for your assistance

Brad
