Yes this build is very old (2011 old) but I plan to make an entirely new one in 2016 with the launch of either AMD's Zen platform or intel's rival system but I'm still curious as to what the performance hit I would get from running either AMD's R9 300 series or one of the Furies (maybe even one of Nvidia's 900 series)on PCIe 2 x16. And yes I know my CPU will severely bottleneck it and I might also have to upgrade the PSU to run it. The motherboard does support PCIe 2.0 x16 lane.

CPU: AMD FX 6100 3.3ghz (oc 4.3)
GPU: Radeon 6850
PSU: 650 watt
HDD: 7200rpm 1TB
RAM: 8GB 1600 (CPU bottlenecked to 1333)

I most likely will sit it out till 2016 as I'm satisfied with the lower performance I have now as I can still run must new games on high at 900p (I'm definitely going to 1440/1600p or 4k in 2016 when I make my new build)

Makes me wonder when we will see gains from adopting PCIe 4.0 in the distant future 3-5 years mabye, well I guess I will stick with my current build for now since even my desktop from 2011 still runs all games smoothly (Granted running at 900p on High)
