Im planning on future proofing my rig by buying another 970 to sli it but I dont know if a 650w psu can handle the two cards, overclocked also IF possible, because its the only psu I can afford as of right now along with the second gtx 970.

Solution
I got a 650 W psu too, for adding a second GTX 970 to it. I did calculations and everything and I think a good 650 W psu is enough. I also have a 80 W cpu and most recommendations expect a more consuming cpu, plus they assume a cheap psu with weak elements. Thats why recommendations are above the minimum requirement.

I choose one of the best 650 W psu with highest quality build and high efficient 80+ Gold rating. Its from Super Flower (have to check exact name at home). On the other hand, I do not overclock. If you want overclock cpu and gpu, then you should have at least 800 W. 700 W is recommended at least.

But I have a single graphics card. I can test it mybe end of year...

Sorry guys that i haven't checked this forum for a while but the psu that I mentioned is a Corsair CMPSU-650TX 650-Watt TX Series 80 Plus Certified Power Supply. Is this a good power supply for the sli build? I don't overclock at all, my cpu is a i5 4670k, and has 16GB 1600mhz ram. Will this support everything in my future build? The two cards i'm gonna install is a zotac gtx 970 and a gigabyte windforce gtx 970. Also will my cpu bottleneck the performance of the sli in anyway?
