I accidentally dropped my WD My Passport Ultra and now it doesn't open anymore.

I work on a Macbook pro 10.9.5

Update: The hard drive unplugged for some reason in the middle of the repair sesion and now it doesn't show my hard drive's name under the WD my Passport.

Is it still possible to repair the hard drive or did I lose everything now?

I just noticed that the hard drive is still showing up in Disk Utlilties, it even shows the name but I don't know what else to do.
Someone from the IT department will come later and look at it, I don't know anything about Disk Utilities and I really don't want to delete anything.

I have a Macbook btw

Hey there, Sizzer97!

I'm sorry to hear about your WD My Passport! :( This is very unfortunate, as you know HDDs are pretty delicate and damage easily!
Since you are able to detect it in Disk Utilities, I'd recommend you to take a look at this tutorial from our KB that explains how to test the drive for issues on a Mac computer: http://products.wdc.com/support/kb.ashx?id=OAsF2e

Follow the steps there, I hope you would be able to get your data off the drive!
Best of luck! Hope I was helpful! :)

I have good news and I have really bad news.
The good news is that I went to the IT department and they kinda did the same things as the steps above.
The bad news is that the hard drive unplugged for some reason in the middle of the repair sesion and now it doesn't show my hard drive's name under the WD my Passport.

Is it still possible to repair the hard drive or did I lose everything now?

Well, unfortunately the unplugging while in the repair session might have damaged the file system which would require you to re-format the drive. :( However, I guess there are some third-party utilities you could use to try and recover your files, but at your own risk. Nobody can determine if you'd be able to get something off of it after the drop and the file system corruption. My advice would be to turn to a professional data recovery company, though costly, they might be the best chance you got at retrieving your files. I'd recommend you to take a look at WD's Data Recovery Partners worldwide, find the nearest to you and ask if they would be able to help you. Good luck!
