when i connect 4gb ram to my cpu it does not bootup even the monitor does not response but when i replaces to my 4gb ram to my old 2gb ram it start normally.I check my cpu for memory upgradation on crucial.com it said that my cpu can support greater than 4gb ram.whats the problem?help

What CPU, mobo and model # of the DRAM - may well be it can 'support' say 8GB but has to be in a 4x2GB config, it may not support 4GB sticks (common on older rigs)
