Hi my name is Nathaniel and since January I have owned a Hp envy 710-311na desktop and a Hp pavilion 23xi monitor.
My problem is that I recently bought a Nvida gtx 970 to replace my and radeon 270. When I received the Nvida graphics card I noticed it did not have the same VGA Or DVI my And card had, my desktop and monitor had come with two wires one with for the VGA and the other for DVI. So The next day I purchased a Hdmi cable but that didn't work either. All I got was a black screen
Any advice would be much appreciated thanks

I'm not sure I'm understanding. Are you saying your screen only has DVI and VGA, but you're trying to use a HDMI cable, which wouldn't work because your screen only has DVI and VGA? I'm confused.

And no I meant my screen does but the new Nvida graphics card doesn't have the original layout of a DVI and VGA output which is what I was supplied with on purchase , I had to buy a Hdmi cable shortly after I purchased the new graphics card

Ok I unistalled Amd catalyst and all the drivers and Nvida physics, I then rebooted and tried to install the Nvida through the disk but it said I had wrong the graphics card, I then tried to the graphics card but it only showed another black screen :(
