Hey guys,

I put together a new system yesterday, it was my first time setting up CPU water cooling. I ended up getting a Corsair H55 and followed a youtube instructional video in collaboration with the manual. I eventually got it on after a lot of fiddling, but I'm not sure if its working as intended or installed correctly.

Haven't done any hard stress testing or anything as yet, but I left the computer running overnight while transferring some saved files from an external HDD, synchronizing my Google Drive and downloading some new games via Origin client. This morning the temperature was around 47-53 degrees celsius, and maxed out around the 60 mark overnight according to RealTemp.

System specs:
MB: ASUS Sabertooth Z97 Mark II
CPU: Intel i5 4690K @ 3.5Ghz 6MB Cache, LGA 1150 (Haswell)
GPU: Gigabyte G1 Gaming GTX 970 4GB GDDR5
HDD: Seagate SSHD Hybrid 2TB
SSD: Samsung 850 EVO 500GB
RAM: Corsair Vengeance Pro Series - 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR3 1866MHz
PSU: Corsair RM-850
CASE: Corsair Obsidian 450D
CPU COOLER: Corsair H55 Water Cooler
FANS: 2 x 140mm on the front (getting 2 more 140mm fans for the top of the case to help vent hot air).

Is it normal for a CPU to reach such temperatures in this scenario, or does it sound like I may have not installed the Corsair H55 correctly / H55 might be faulty? ... I'd like to Overclock my CPU, but not if I'm having heat issues at stock.

*Side note: before work this morning I took the side of the case off, the file transfers had completed, all games had finished downloading / installing, and Google Drive sync was paused. The temperatures are now 37, 39, 40 and 35 on RealTemp.

Solution
That means that above 100c, your cpu will throttle down its speed to prevent damage. however, ita best to stay under ~80c to prolong the life of your cpu.

Thanks for the response. When you say normal, you mean normal for an entry level water cooled CPU? Seems pretty high to me is all, makes me wonder if I have the tech to overclock at all.

Yes those temps are normal for your cpu/cooler combo. Try running aida64 and see what your max temps are.

Thanks for suggesting AIDA64, hadn't heard of it before. I see on Motherboard>CPUID section it says Tjmax Temperature is 100 degrees celsius. Is this what I should be looking for?
