How far could i overclock the pentium g3258 (stock cooler)
On this motherboard:ASUS H81M-PLUS H81 Micro-ATX Motherboard - 1150 socket, 16GB max installable RAM

On a stock cooler and voltage...4.0 for sure, maybe 4.2. Depending on the chip you might get 4.5 with a quality cooler and a voltage bump.

I would very much advise against overclocking with the stock cooler your going to fry your CPU.
You might be safe at 3.6.
For 4.2 those chips require about 1.22 volts.

Yeah no ocing till u get aftermarket cooler. They are pretty cheap. U can get decent one for 25 - 35$. Also update ur bios to the latest version.

It also sais i might need a BIOS update? I'm building my first pc today how do i do this? Do i go to the manufacturers website once windows is up and running or what.

You need to check what BIOS your motherboard shipped with after you build the PC.
The latest version is 2205 https://www.asus.com/Motherboards/H81MPLUS/HelpDesk_Download/
After upgrading the CPU cooler see if you can overclock it before updating the BIOS you might not need to.
