Hi,

I thought I was being a genius when I decided to delete part of the partition on my 1TB HDD which was previously reserved for the Elementary Linux OS. So I deleted it, then went to bed to wake up and find just a black screen, the 2 second Asus POST shows and then nothing, the F2, F12, Delete buttons all do nothing. Now I have tried removing the RAM (no change) and HDD (ran BIOS and can boot to USB and CD/DVD). Now thinking its a HDD problem, I panicked obviously and came on here in seek of help on how to run Windows or BIOS through the HDD in order to recover the Hard Drive or what else I should try to help with the issue.

Specs:

Windows 8 laptop - Asus X550C - i3 version
HGST 1TB Travelstar Internal Hard Drive

I'd really appreciate any help and advice, even if you guys call me a doofus!
Many thanks in advance,
Adam

The BIOS is completely separate from your hard drive. You probably are not pushing the correct button-it could be Esc, Enter, F1, F10, etc.

You can probably get windows to boot by inserting a windows install disk/usb and booting from that. It should be able to repair your bootloader. Installing another linux bootloader could also fix the problem.
