Hello, I'm having an issue with my PG278Q ROG Swift monitor.
Out the box, the gamma settings for this panel are way too high. Things look foggy and cloudy, or not dark enough where they should be. My old 60hz 1080p TV had better colours than this monitor, and I've figured out that it's most definitely a gamma issue, as adjusting brightness doesn't seem to resolve the washout in colour, yet gamma does, and brings the brightness to a more crisp colour than the brightness setting does.

There is no gamma adjustment setting on this particular monitor itself, but there is a gamma slider in Nvidia Control Panel, and Win7 colour calibration.

There is nothing physically wrong with this monitor, it arrived with no dead pixels, and it's in great physical shape. I don't want to have to send it back, as it most likely just needs a gamma adjustment.

Please correct me if I'm wrong here, or if it is defective...

My actual issue is in the colour calibration tool, or Nvidia Control Panel, as whenever I try to adjust the gamma, the screen changes to my custom setting, but then it instantly changes back in a split second afterwards. When I move the slider, it'll change to that setting, but the moment I stop, it'll just revert back almost instantly. When I log off and log back on, the system briefly shows my custom gamma setting for a moment, then loads it back to the washed out colours straight after again. I'm using the display port cable with a GTX 970 on Windows 7 Ultimate.

Is this some kind of interference from another program that is in a higher priority state than the windows calibration tool? I've got Photoshop, Sony Vegas, Steam & the monitor driver installed, but is that what's interfering? I just cant seem to figure out why it's doing this. I just want my gamma setting to stick, but something is preventing that. Please can I have any feedback on this issue. Thanks

There are many display tunning freeware such as Gamma Panel... See if that one or any other suggested here helps.

Run the Gamma solftware and see if the settings are saved after a restart... if they are, the problem is probably being caused by the Nvidia Control Panel and you'll need to reinstall it as well as the included GPU driver, but it's not a standard removal-reinstall... you should follow suggestions to wipe old drivers given in the thread, that have worked in resolving issues such as your's.

Thanks for your reply!

The issue was f.lux interfering. When I quit f.lux, the custom settings remained. Thanks for your suggestions!
