GTX970 G1 Gaming vs MSI Radeon R9 290 4GB TWIN FROZR

I'm about to build this PC: http://pcpartpicker.com/guide/nKqqqs/750-gaming-pc-build . But I was wondering if it's worth the extra money to switch the MSI Radeon for a GTX970 G1 Gaming. The MSI i'm buying costs $310 but $280 after rebate card, while the 970 costs $350. I'm planning to play taxing games such as Tomb Raider, Arma 3, and Fallout 4. So I want to know which decision is worth it more.

The g1 is undoubtably a better card but most definitely not $70 worth better mate.

You still could buy a fine Zotac GeForce GTX 970 for $314.

Agreed! The 970 is the better card but since they trade blows in performance the 290 is the better deal. So what it really comes down to is if the extra $70 is worth the small difference in performance if and when the 970 comes out on top.

The Zotac is a fine brand.
The Maxwell GTX970 is a better platform for 1080p than R9-290: Stronger, cooler, quieter, less power-angry gpu.

Ok, I'll buy the Zotac GTX970, but I am really not looking forward to the new Batman game on PC. Heard from everyone that it's basically broken.

Good luck mate

This is a tough game for a entry-level gaming rig. Some people are upgrading around here in order to play this game.
A Haswell i5 will keep gaming smooth though. And your new GTX970 will keep it marvelous. See. Not DC. Marvelous
