Hi! I've got an old HP/Compaq 2000, and it's in serious need of an upgrade, especially with Windows 10 coming. The model is bf69wm, and yes I know he manual says only 4gb. People have put in 8gb sticks. What I need to know is:

The best 8gb stick of ram. Single stick. Max price is 60 USD.

How much faster will an SSD make my computer over the Toshiba 5400RPM drive it has now? I'm looking at the Samsung 850 250gb SSD.

Thanks for any help you guys can give me!

Solution

First tell me at what frequency your RAM operates? Then I'll recommend which one suites your taste.
If its 1600mhz then I would recommend this one:

Otherwise tell me your frequency if this isn't matches yours.
For SSD the samsung one as you mentioned above is awesome and is trending best selling, although an SSD increases retrieving files speed of transfer to and from.

AMD E-300 can only support DDR3-1066, so you can pay for DDR3-1333 CL9 1.50V, DDR3-1600 CL11 1.50V, and they will all work fine because they can down clock to DDR3-1066 CL7 1.50V.

Good luck with lower CAS and voltage, it sounds like a good idea because performance is better and more efficient, but it is not necessarily compatible. It adds more variables for potential compatibility issues but you might get lucky depending on how they programmed it.
