Hey guys ,

i have a msi 970a-g46 motherboard and AMD FX-6300 six core current BIOS version is 1.11 .

i'm trying to get a bit more performance from it so i was wonder if overclocking would be an option even for a moderate boost .

im also scared to update my bios not to break the mobo or something so any advice on the subject would be appreciated

thanks

If your PC is running fine their really no reason to update the BIOS.
The speed of the processor keeps changing because on auto if your don't need much processing power it throttles down to save energy, when your doing things the need more power it goes back up to full speed that is what it should do.
That motherboard is not a good overclocker because of the VRM heat issues like I said I would not overclock...

you wont break the motherboard by updating the bios unless you force shut down the computer while it is flashing maybe. Yeah you should overclock the processor if you want better performance, you probably want something better than the stock cooler.

If you wish to do it anyhow then just go for a mild 0.4 boost or so.
