Its been a while since my video card stopped working and right now my on-board video card is kind of failling as well. I can't remember when exactly it stopped working but the fans are still functional (even at the moment im writing this) Every time i plug it on my GPU no signal is being detected but if its on may vid card it will work (but you need to tweak the vga cable a little bit to have the perfect color)

If you're going to ask for the specs of my PC its kind of embarrassing since its an old system. I just need to have it working until i gather my funds for the upgrade or should i say overhaul that ill be doing. So i just need to know if its a problem with the GPU itself or the PCI-E socket. Enlighten me please.

CPU: Intel i3-530
Mobo: Intel DH55TC
Ram: Gskill Ripjaws CL7 1333 4GB
GPU: Nvidia GT220
PSU: Generic 550w

Mmm, ok try what's said in the geforce forums. It's for a different model but i'm guessing it should work:

A quick way to rule it out would be testing it in another system, do you have access to another computer you could try it on?

EDIT: Also, to test the socket, try plugging another card in it if you have/can borrow one

Actually, that's the first troubleshooting i could think of unfortunately i don't know someone near that i can try my GPU if it will be working, i do have another GPU but that was the previous GPU i had before this current one and i identified that it is faulty (distorted colors) but will give it a shot since that old GPU only has problem with the colors but its still displaying something.

Is there any other way i could test it? Also, do i need to change something on the BIOS? I recently replaced my CMOS battery so i assume that the settings i previously had their have been reverted back to the default settings.

Yep, when you take out the battery it goes back to default.

Try this troubleshooting guide, skip to the bottom part which seems to be more like your issue:

Alright, will try and check that out first. Also i'll be having the time to try my GPU on my friends system by tomorrow let's see what's going to happen. Thanks for your help, will get back to you once i had the results.

So i have tried following the clean installing of the driver but when im about to install the driver for the GPU it says that it can't detect a compatible hardware, the GPU is already seated there and the fan is spinning but when i look up at the device manager, its not showing there. It says "Standard VGA Adapter" is there something in the BIOS that might be blocking to detect the GPU?

So basically, i can't do the post that you've shared to me since the Device ID that i have on the VGA Adapter is PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_0042&SUBSYS_00368086&REV_02 then i googled it and it was the OnBoard GPU which is from Intel. Is there something in the BIOS that may block the detection of the GPU?

My understanding is that if you cleared the BIOS and it went back to default if shouldn't select integrated, but it's worth checking out to see if by some reason it's not selecting the PCIe

So yeah, i have tried playing with the BIOS settings but it seems that even picking the primary adpter to be either PCI e PEG or w/o PEG its the same thing, im kind of thinking that it is the GPU that is not working. I forgot to mention that if i plug it in the GPU, it doesnt display anything totally but its not saying that to "Check Signal Cable". So basically its being detected. And i have learned from reading other references with this problem that i got that is more likely for the GPU to die like that.

So the last thing that i need to do to verify that its not really the mobo slot is to try and put my GPU to my friends System by tomorrow. Will update you what will happen and thanks again!
