I am using all the below components on my gaming computer currently and sometimes while playing games, Everything from "Hero's of the Storm" to "GTA V" and "The Witcher 3" on low settings, is hard locking my PC to the point of having to perform a hard reboot by holding down the power button. this has only started very recently. i have plenty of ventilation and neither my CPU nor my GPU overheat at all the hottest the CPU gets is 70 and the hottest the GPU get is 65ish I am really worried something bad is happening. i am in the process of building a new case for it so i have the time to switch any parts if needed but i have no idea what is causing it?

I think you are talking about Modular when you talk about plugging cables into them. Modular allows you to plug in only the cables you need, and to keep the rest of the cables in a bag until you need them. It reduces the wiring jungle inside of your case.

Yes, most power supplies come with all the cables they have always come with, its just that with a modular power supply, you get to pick which cables are actually plugged into the power supply instead of having everything always attached.

When you see the brand Antec in the list, and Seasonic at the end of the line, that means that Antec had Seasonic make the power supply for them. Most power supply companies do not have their own power supply factories, and they use the companies...
I do not see that model power supply on our power supply list. I suspect its probably this unit:

Cooler Master Elite II 550w (technically a 500w unit, maybe a typo from design department) Unknown OEM. Possibly HEC Compucase
If I am right, then that thing is a Tier 4 ranked power supply. Better known as junk.

Tier Four
No Japanese capacitors found. Only Taiwanese capacitors and may even include Chinese capacitors. Very basic safety circuits or even thin gauge wiring used. Not for gaming rigs or overclocking systems of any kind. Avoid unless your budget dictates your choice.

I personally recommend Seasonic. I believe that they are the best made power supplies on the planet. You know when you buy a Seasonic that you have a high quality unit with at least a 5 year warranty.

I will link our list for you. Its got Tiers 1 through Tier 5. We only recommend buying Tier 1 or Tier 2 power supplies. There are lots of power supplies on this list. The way to use it is to search by the brand name. It is likely that any given brand is listed under multiple tiers. So when on the page where the power supplies are listed, press CTRL-F and a small popup will appear near the upper right corner of the page. Type in the brand name. Then look at the lines below that Brand Name, and see if the model name and capacity of the power supply is listed there. If it is not, click on the down arrow to see if there is another entry in the listing. Once you find the right model number under that brand name, scroll back up to the Tier number header. That is the Tier that the people here on Toms have assigned to that power supply.

So it definitely is an issue with the PSU. I had a feeling that was it. I will look through the list then. thank you for your help!

UPDATE:
I looked over the list but i am having trouble picking out a good one. i am on a little bit of a budget and a bit new to higher quality computer parts. I need a PSU that will work for the above mentioned parts and is closer to 75-100 range. i had a few issues finding some of the ones on that list and i also noticed that some ahvve to hvae the cables plugged into them and they are not built in. while this seems like it would be a nice feature do most come with all the cables needed? I am building a case where everything would be visible so i would prefer a nicer looking one. it also seems some of those PSU's have a manufacturer and a brand like antec also has seasonic on it as well any recommendations to specific PSU's that are in my price range and viable for my PC

Most power supply companies do not have their own power supply factories, and they use the companies that do have the factories to make the units for them. Seasonic makes their own power supplies and power supplies for many, many other companies.

I only buy Seasonic anymore. And those are available almost everywhere. But any power supply on the list in Tier 1 or Tier 2 is a good power supply. It is the power supplies on Tier 3 to 5 that we try to steer people away from due to quality and performance issues.

Silly Question. Does the fan in this have an LED? It looks like it does.
