APPROXIMATE PURCHASE DATE: Mid July to Early August 2015

BUDGET RANGE: $375 - $425

USAGE FROM MOST TO LEAST IMPORTANT: Gaming for Witcher 3 / Rainbow 6 Siege / Some MMOs

CURRENT GPU AND POWER SUPPLY: EVGA GTX 760 with AC OC 2GB and SeaSonic 650w

OTHER RELEVANT SYSTEM SPECS: i5 4690k / Asus z97 mobo with Wifi / 16GB RAM / EVO 212 Hyper Cooler (Will look to improve cooling. I don't like the temps I've been getting 60c max) Vizio 1080p TV

PREFERRED WEBSITE(S) FOR PARTS: microcenter (store) / newegg.com / amazon.com (US only)

PARTS PREFERENCES: Have not used AMD cards before but open to the idea

OVERCLOCKING: No SLI OR CROSSFIRE:

MONITOR RESOLUTION:1920x1080 possibly 1440p in future but not anytime soon

ADDITIONAL COMMENTS: I can't overclock my GTX 760! I have used MSI Afterburner or EVGA Precision to adjust the settings. I have benchmarked with Unigine, 3D Mark, Cinebench. The best I can get at is +50 core / +100 memory. Even at that, when playing games like Witcher 3 with mostly ultra settings, I'm getting at most 43fps. I'd like to be able to reach and maintain 60fps.

I'm looking at GTX 970 (don't like the 3.5 VRAM but I take that's all I need for most games) or Fury X. Any advice or feedback is appreciated!!

Sixty degrees centigrade is not bad for max CPU temps under load. You might lower it a little by making sure you have good airflow through your case. It is possible that removing the cooler, cleaning off and replacing the paste (AS-5, MX-2, and MX-4 are some good ones I've used) might make a little difference.
Otherwise, the GTX970 would be a decent upgrade, and would run on your current PSU.

Thanks for the paste recommendation. It's the case! I have the Corsair Carbide series 02. It's the one wit the Glass side panel with no vents. I preferred my Cooler Master HAF but it wasn't compatible with my mobo.

To the both of you, any specific brand 970? EVGA? MSI? PNY?

I definitely like that feature.

What about the 780 Ti?

Well friend, I was sort of looking around at other threads and I just came across one indicating that the AMD 380 is the better card over the GTX 960 (not worrying on power and heat).

So I'm torn lol.
