Helping my sister build her first gaming pc... Thoughts?

Better in many important ways, and cheaper, but Intel based.

Hi,

I believe you guys aren't using this rig for streaming and video editing. For a decent rig unde 1000$ I would definitely go with this I have tried my best to stay under 1000$. In case you guys can save up more please post here, We can make a better build. But still this is awesome just the way it is.

http://pcpartpicker.com/p/Qbcqf7

The price is 987$. Try to go with this. It's perfect for 1080p and 1440p.

*For multiplayer always use a wired connection.
*You don't need more than 8GB for gaming. For video editing 16GB would come nice.

Hope this helped !

PSU is not good. Change it for a proper unit. Antec, XFX, Seasonic, EVGA (G2,B2,GS)

Hi, I have already set a EVGA power supply. I tried to go for the 390X so these guys can play games at high-ultra for a very long time. That's Why I limited myself from going to a more than decent PSU.

Cheers !

The EVGA PSU you picked is junk. It needs to be changed for a B2/G2/GS. Yours is a G1 unit which is completely not good quality at all. It must be changed.

The PSU is the single most important part of the PC. It is the LAST place to save money. A 390x is no good if the PSU will damage/destroy it in the long run.

TBH I had a bad time choosing PSUs. In fact I am not good at it. So dude Why won't you just edit it and post it here? :No Offense

Cheers!

Prices change all the time too. At the moment, the EVGA B2 750 is a great choice and the 650W GS is fully modular and Gold.

Tuning depends on what the OP is interested in. Dumping the SSD to get a 390X might be right, as would cutting back the RAM to 8Gb, but I would want to hear from the OP before going there.
