I have a kernel-power error 41 in my system events.

My computer shuts down without warning at random times, is a new rig and I've used 2 maybe 3 days tops.

I thought it was high temps, so I ran a stress test on the cpu and checked temps while doing so.

CPU had a max temp of 67c
Mobo 55c

My rig is as follows:

-CPU Intel i7 4790k
-Mobo Asus H97I-plus mini itx
-GPU Asus gtx970
-Cooler Seidon 120v
-PSU Corsair CX500M
-RAM 2 8gb HyperX Beast

Now some background:

When I first installed everything I got a large bip followed by two short ones, when i looked up the error found out it was bad memory sticks.

I took them out and switched them and everything worked, showed 16gb and all. But then I took the computer to my room and found out I had only 8 gigs of memory.
I checked and one of the sticks was loose so I pushed it and it showed 16 gb of ram again.

After that I always see 16gb of ram, but I'm still unsure if I may have a bad stick.

Other than that I had 5 unexpected shutdowns, no warning, no log of any kind.

Please PLEASE help me.

Is there a way to test this theory? I know I should buy a new PSU but even though I should atm I can't spend that much money on a new one only to find out it's not the root of the problem.

First I would like to address the issue itself and then replace the PSU for something better/more expensive/more watts.

If its the PSU then the issue would be addressed, but if it's not It would ruin me because I have limited amounts to spend after building this little monster.

Where I'm at (Mexico city) this processor with 4ghz costs the same as the 4790 3.6ghz ($5400 pesos) and I'm pretty sure this mobo has the ability to oc (the bios even has a thing called ez tune or something like that).

Plus, I may upgrade the mobo in the future and use the same processor, when it starts to become obsolete I may squeeze some life of it OCing it.

Anyway, back to the PSU, is it really that bad? before buying I looked up a lot of forums and stuff and they said that even though the psu doesn't give 500w as it says it does it would be enough for the rig I have, I didn't think it would be just garbage as you say

No, it can only do very tiny base clock overclocking (NOT recommended at all). It will not be bale to actually overclock your CPU. Sorry. You need a Z97 board for that.

The PSU is not garbage, but it is not good. It uses crap capacitors that fail easily. It is not a "safe" PSU for your build. Replace it ASAP. A quality PSU is the single most important part of a PC. A bad one can fry the entire PC. I see it all the time.

Will buy and install then.

Please leave this discussion open if by any chance after switching the PSU my computer still shuts down by itself we can do more tests.

Thank you, I'll purchase this immediately

The thing that still bothers me is, if by any chance the PSU was not the cause of this unexpected shutdowns, what other causes can there be?

I spent craploads of money on this build and I need it for work, I cant afford to have it just sitting there :/
